Moonfish Pop-Up Worlds

During our year as Theatre Artist in Residence 2016 at The Riverbank Arts Centre, Moonfish Theatre created Pop-Up Worlds, an immersive theatre piece that combined craft, history, performance and audio and sensor technology. Our artists and pop-up engineers created hundreds of tiny pieces to build the miniature worlds of our characters.

I worked with coder Esteban Moreno to create circuits that triggered different audio soundscapes and narrative when the young people opened the pop-ups. The circuits were created using conductive thread and conductive velcro. Each pop-up connected to an Arduino micro-controller, and these micro-controllers all linked to a Raspberry Pi which stored and played the audio.
